RATIONALE
College of Agriculture and natural resource (CoANR) was established in 2012/13 Academic year with four programs (Animal Science, Plant Sciences, Natural Resources Management and Agricultural Economics) affiliated with Mettu University in the former Gambella ATVET college. CoANR is rigorously working to achieve the mission of higher education and its objectives; ensure the good teaching learning processes, engaging in the research and innovation programs, and community services. As Agriculture is one of Gambella University(GBU) major focus areas CoANR is expected to dedicate in advancing agricultural development through promoting knowledge of basic and applied agricultural sciences.
The College is moving forward progressively opening different programs on demand bases and expands its engagement opportunities with partners and stakeholders. Currently, the college is actively running twelve undergraduate and four postgraduate programs in regular and weekend modalities. These includes: –

MISSION
- To discover, share, and disseminate up-to-date knowledge of agricultural and environmental systems to students, communities and other stakeholders
- To produce demand driven and competent graduates in all programs
- Provision of need based community service and conducting problem solving research
MAIN ACTIVITIES
- Ensure the availability of adequate resources for all programs to sustain the good teaching learning process
- Establish and furnish different laboratories with full facilities under different department
- Develop standard and up to date teaching materials, modules and online resources
- Build and strengthen different university-industry linkages connections
- Strengthening grand research and community service works together with the research and community services offices of university and other stakeholders
- Demand based expansion of both undergraduate and postgraduate programs in addition to existing fields.
- Support the establishment of different farms and research site under CoANR
- Progressive work on staff capacity building and facilitating short term training
